My Image is Awarded a Merit!

Last night at the London Portrait Group’s Print Competition this image was awarded a Merit in the hottest contested category of the evening!

I’ve been going to the London Portrait Group’s monthly meetings for some time – where some of the best photographers from London and the surrounding areas come together to share images and ideas, give inspiring talks and print critiques.  I have to say it’s one of the best things I go to on a regular basis and I look forward to it every month.

There’s nothing better as a photographer than sitting amongst talented peers listening to the biggest names in the business talk about their experiences and share their amazing images with you.  There’s also nothing more daunting than sitting amongst talented peers whilst a photographer you respect critiques everyone’s work (luckily it’s put in anonymously), waiting for them to get to your offering and wondering what they are going to say!

Clare-Louise who was judging said she was struck by rapport that had been established between me and the boy, that you could see this by the intense eye contact, and she loved the way the image captures his inner attitude!  She also commented on the directional use of light and the quality of the printed image.

Yippee – can’t wait for the next one!!
